In order to complete the tripodal mandate of UNAAB (Manpower Development, Research and Extension Services), the Agricultural Media Resources and Extension Centre (AMREC) was established on November 1, 1991. AMREC operates on Model Extension Villages.

These villages are used:

for testing latent agricultural technologies available for the zone (South-West) as on-farm adaptive research prior to their adaption by the farmers
as study villages on extension models, and for training of students in practical extension
