Lateef Oladimeji SANNI graduated from the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria with Second Class Upper Division in the Department of Food Science and Technology in 1990. He obtained Master and PhD Degrees at the Department of Food Technology, University of Ibadan in 1993 and 1999 respectively. He joined the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (UNAAB) in 1993 as Assistant Lecturer and became Professor of Food Science and Technology in 2008. He is currently 2nd National Vice President of the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology.

Sanni was a grantee of World Bank and International Foundation for Science, Sweden and enjoys with colleagues funds for research from Department for International Development, UK, European Union, USAID, SPDC, FGN, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, USA, Common Fund for Commodities, the Netherlands collaborating with Natural Resources Institute and International Institute of Tropical Agriculture. Sanni used various opportunities to advance research and extension on post harvest systems of root and tuber crops with emphasis on: upgrading traditional system, quality assurance, equipment development, packaging and distribution pathway.  He has served as a Consultant to the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, United Nations Industrial Development Organisation and CTA, the Netherlands on documentation of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points, Nigerian Cassava Master Plan, How to produce High Quality Cassava Flour, Process and Product Innovations, and quality management systems for cassava processing and products.
Lateef has won 1999 The Young Persons of Nigeria Academic Leadership Award by Junior Chamber International (JCI), 2005 Most Outstanding UNAAB Alumnus of the year, DF Award of Excellence, Best Oral Presenter at the 7th African Crops Science Conference organized by African Crops Science Society, Entebbe, Uganda, 5-9 December 2005, 2006 Academic Accomplishment Award by Junior Chambers International, Abeokuta and 2006 Outstanding Alumnus Award by UNAAB Alumni Association, Lagos Chapter. He won 2008 CGIAR Award Regional Technology Development in Sub Saharan Africa, 2 Dec 2008 (http://www.cgiar.org/newsroom/scientific.html) and received IITA Board Chair Commendation Letter on CGIAR AWARD, 26 Dec 2008.

He has well over 35 overseas trips working with development partners across the four continents. He is currently the Coordinator to two West African sponsored projects in Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Benin republic on cassava value chain by Common Fund for Commodities and Food Developer Initiative by Association of African Universities. He is also the current Country Manager, of cassava: adding value for Africa project sponsored through Natural Resources Institute UK by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Director, AG Leventis Memorial Centre for Learning of the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria. He is a Mentor to G & D AWARD Program and IuFoST-e-drying Course.

He has trained well over 50 BSc, MSc and PhD graduates with well over 90 scientific publications in National and International Journals, Proceedings, reports, reviews, and books. He is an Editorial Member, International Journal of Food Science and Technology, 2005 and reviewer to many journals at National and international levels.
