Dr. Okanlade A. LAWAL-ADEBOWALE is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. He had his Primary and Post Primary School education in Lagos State between 1977 and 1988 leading to his acquisition of the Ordinary Level West African School Certificate (WASC) with Credits. He had admission into the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta in 1990 and passed out in 1997 with a Bachelor of Agriculture Degree, Second Class Upper Division. In December 2002, he obtained Master of Agriculture Degree in Agricultural Extension and Rural Development and PhD in Agricultural Communication in June 2009, from the same University.

Shortly after his National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) in Government Secondary School, Bakura, Zamfara State in June 1998 he worked as an Agricultural Officer in Agro Service Corporation, Abeokuta (in the Planning, Input and Credit Department) between April 1999 and March 2001. Thereafter he proceeded on further study for acquisition of Master Degree, and while on the PhD programme he was appointed as Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. He assumed duty on November 3rd 2003 and has progressed to Senior Lecturer. Following the acquisition of his PhD, his Research Focus has been on Organisational Communication, Social Development, Agricultural and Extension Issues

Arising from his research activities, Dr. Lawal-Adebowale has about 30 publications to his credit, in both local and international journals, and Learned Society/Association’s proceedings and as chapters in books. He is a member of Learned Associations such as Agricultural Extension Society of Nigeria (AESON), Agricultural Society of Nigeria (ASN), Farm Management Association of Nigeria (FAMAN), Nigerian Rural Sociological Association (NRSA) and African Society for Information and Communication Technologies (ASICT).

In 2006, he got the RESDEC Research Grant 188 from the Research and Development Centre (RESDEC, now IFSERA- Institute of Food Security, Environmental Resources and Agricultural Research), Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria. In addition, he was a member of the team that got IFSERAR Research Grant 20 in 2010 and the Directorate of Grant Management (DGM) Research Grant in 2012, from the University.

Academically, he teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and these include Principles and Practice of Agricultural Extension and Rural Sociology, Introduction to Forest and Wildlife Extension, Agricultural communication, Rural Community Development and Social Change. At the postgraduate level, courses taught include Measurement and Scaling, Research Methodology, Media Production and Broadcast, and Seminar in extension Science. In addition to teaching, he has supervised about 34 undergraduate research projects, 3 Diploma projects, 4 Postgraduate Diploma projects, and a Masters student to graduation. He is currently supervising 4 Masters students’ research work as Major Supervisor and 12 Masters students as Co-Supervisor.

Administratively, he has served his Department and College in various capacity and this include Examination Officer (2003 to date), Member Teaching and Farm Management Committee – TEFAMAC (2003 to date), now Community Based Farming Scheme (COBFAS), Coordinator, extension component of Farm Practical Year Programme - FPY 410 (2005 to date), College Rep on COLNAS College Board (2009 to date), College Rep, SIWECO (2010 to date); Member, College Committee on Examination and Records – COCER (2009 to date); Member, College Publicity Committee (2009 to date), Member, Senate Adhoc Committee on Development of New Result Processing Package (2009) and Member, Socioeconomic and Food Security Sub-sector of IFSERAR.
