The Centre was created in February, 2007 in response to and in compliance with the express demand of the Federal Ministry of Education (FME) in Abuja through the National Universities Commission.

PHILOSOPHY AND OBJECTIVES

The Centre is currently located at room 210, COLPLANT Building next door to the ASUU Secretariat. It is headed by an academic Director and has 4 Units namely:

-              Graduate Records and Information Unit

-              Career Guidance and Counselling  Unit

-              Alumni Affairs Unit

The Centre is aimed at ensuring that the University Community enjoys all the benefits provided by improved information technology therefore, enhancing capacity building of the University. It ensures that the students are able to identify career objectives, articulate career plans and empowered with the wherewithal to face the challenges of the future both within the country and worldwide.

The Objectives of the Centre are to:

  • Develop a comprehensive database of the graduating students of the University and ensure that the Alumni website, Alumni Directory and Data Bank are continually updated
  • Assist graduates of the University in job placement with relevant organizations both within and outside the country.
  • Counsel undergraduate and postgraduate students on suitable career choices and prospects vis-à-vis their courses of study as well as on their academic, personal and social problems.
  • Work closely with the Academic Departments in molding the character of students and provide emotional support where necessary for graduates of the University to be fit in character and learning.
  • Interact with graduates of the University towards enhancing their interest in the development of their Alma Mater.
  • Encourage students to have confidence in themselves and command of their intellectual and social environments towards the development of the total man/ woman.
