The Centre named A. G. Leventis Memorial Centre for Learning was bequeathed to the University by the A. G. Leventis Foundation as part of its contribution to educational development in the country. The Centre was commissioned and formally handed over to the University on Wednesday, October 8, 2003. It was a grand occasion witnessed by important dignitaries in the society. The representative of the Foundation, His Excellency, Ambassador A. P. Leventis, (OFR) was very delighted to commission the Centre. Other dignitaries present at the occasion include Bashorun A. A. Adesanya and Chief J. B. Oke. The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Israel Adu, thanked the Foundation for this kind gesture.

Activities of the centre

After the handing over, the University Management decided to take gown to town. The Management favoured the provision of service to the immediate community of the Centre This is so because of the location of the Centre in the heart of the town.

The provision of Internet services started in December, 2003. This is to provide information to numerous clients both near and far. Web Cam facility is available to interested clients and Internet Telephony is being put in place.

In addition to this, the Centre plans to have a business center to offer word processing of documents, photocopying and binding services.

The Centre intends also to have a small specialized Research Library for Nigerian history with emphasis on Yoruba and Egba historical, social-economic and cultural development. Books, journals and other information source materials will be stocked to achieve this goal.

The Management of the University also intends to develop a Museum in the Center to showcase artifacts of Late Chief A. G. Leventis and the products of the various companies under the Leventis Group.

The UNAAB African Print is also a major Unit of the Centre. The Unit is charged with the responsibility of producing high quality African Prints for special occasions and for sale to the larger community.

The Unit also hosts Abeokuta School of Art and Design (ASAD). Here, a curriculum has been developed for the training of Artists and Designers and also to further the interest of the School, which membership cuts across various institutions in and around Abeokuta. The Unit also provides practical classes for the Home Science and Management undergraduate students of the University.

Mrs. Olufunmilayo Braide, a lecturer in the Department of Home Science and Management of the University is the Head of the Unit.
