The Governing Council of the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta in April, 1990 approved the establishment of a Research and Development Centre for the University with a Research Policy Board and a Research and Development Management Committee.
Functions of RESDEC:
RESDEC coordinates, organises, controls and monitors research activities of the University
Funds research and training
Funds learned conferences, seminars and workshops
Fosters linkages through preparation of memoranda of understandind and solicits for external funds.
RESDEC is thus charged with the responsibility of managing and disbursing University Grants to deserving staff whether internally or externally funded. For effective execution of this assignment, therefore, RESDEC avails itself of the services of Research Grants Committee (made up of a representative from each College, the Library and the Bursary) whose function is to award research and learned conference grants to qualified staff. The Centre prepares the University Research Budget with inputs from the Colleges and disburses Training Grants through RESDEMAC for manpower development.
Present director of Research and Development Centre is Professor O.O. Ayelaagbe.
