Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities is an umbrella body for all senior-non teaching staff in all Nigerian Universities. The Association comprises of Accountants, Engineers, Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists, Farms Managers, Librarians, Administrators etc.

Although belonging to any Union in Nigeria by Law is voluntary, it is very important to belong to any Union in his or her own interest.

Some of the advantages of belonging to SSANU are for instance every three years the Union negotiable on behalf of its entire membership with Federal Government, in the course which matters ranging from salary, allowances and conditions service of members are reviewed. After agreements are signed with Federal Government the Local Branch ensures implementation of the agreements.

At our Branch, that is University of Agriculture Abeokuta, the Union also procure from time-to-time essential food items, mobile handsets, organises merit award for the serving members and member of the public, issue bi-annual publication "The Parrot", operates an ultramodern Union secretariat where articles and journals on all field of endeavour and labor related matters can be obtained. The Branch also have in plan a scheme called Senior Staff universment scheme where members contributes monthly 5-20% of their basic salary until retirement from service. The scheme is managed by a 7-member board of trustee, which reports quarterly to stack holders.

The Union Secretariat is located on campus at the basement of College of Natural Science Building.

Non-academic Staff Union
Non-academic Staff Union (NASU) is a labour union for all non-academic staff (from office assistant to registrar) in Nigerian Universities. It is the only Union registered under the labour act.

Membership is voluntary as in the other Unions, but employers in categories HATISS 01 - 05 are automatically members of NASU and people in category HATISS 06 and above can join voluntary.

Our objective is to seek for the welfare (salaries, allowances, improved conditions of service, etc.) of its members and to ensure that justice, fairplay and equity are enshrined in the system.

NASU welfare scheme - objective includes preparing members towards their retirement.

NASU secretariat in UNAAB is located in front of the College of Animal Science.

Association of University Technologists
Association of University Technologists of Nigeria is a professional Union in Nigerian Universities, where members are trained and certified technologists.

Membership is opened to all trained technologists and the minimum qualification is B.Sc. or HND. Everybody who wish to join the Union must provide letter of appointment and must serve in academic department.

Our members are encouraged in training and re-training in various fields to enhance them with the update of new technologies.
